Xiaomi Poco X7 Review

0

Earlier this year (2025), Poco introduced its new X series phones; Poco X7 and X7 Pro. The two phones have many differences in terms of appearance, specifications, features and price. Poco X7 is considered the cheaper model of the series and is set to follow in the footsteps of Poco X6. The Poco X6, which was introduced last year, was still faithful to Poco’s patterns in terms of appearance, had a good camera and processor and could be trusted in terms of battery. But Poco X7 has gone one step further! Now it has been produced and launched on the market with a new look, a more powerful processor, better cameras and a longer-lasting battery. Is this phone really worth buying?

2. Metallic Green: Plastic body with a glossy & matte two-tone finish.
3. Silver: Plastic body with a glossy & matte finish.

It seems that the Chinese company Poco has hired new designers! You can see this in the appearance of the Poco X7. The design of this phone is no longer similar to previous generations and does not even follow the traditional Poco X series patterns. The cameras are no longer placed inside the big, ugly island, and you can see the POCO logo in a new place on the back of this phone.
The second scenario is that the exact same design as the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, which was introduced a few days before the Poco X7, has been considered for this phone. If you put the two phones side by side, you will notice that they are very similar in terms of design, and only the location of their logos and colors differ. Xiaomi Poco C85 Review

As a new member of the Poco family, the Poco X7 is designed with a cushioned body structure that prevents impacts to the internal hardware components of the phone. This phone is available in three different color models, each of which is interesting in its own way. It has a black-yellow version with a synthetic leather-covered back cover. It has a metallic green version that has been given a two-tone look by glossing and matting, and a silver version that also uses gloss and matting to color the body. These two green and silver versions are plastic and do not have a leather cover.

Body quality

Except for the black-yellow model, which is produced with a synthetic leather cover, the other two versions of the Poco X7 are produced with a plastic body. In terms of thickness, this phone is in the category of relatively thick phones (8.4 mm), but in terms of weight, due to the use of plastic in the body and frame, it reaches 190 grams, which is really a light phone.

Frame review

This phone is covered with a plastic frame all around and a special curvature is seen on the edges, which makes the front panel look slightly curved. On the right side of the phone, you can see the volume and power keys, there is nothing on the left side. The charging port, SIM card slot, speaker and microphone are placed at the bottom of the phone, and on the top of the phone there is a speaker and a second microphone along with an infrared port. This is a dual-SIM phone.

Front Panel

The front panel of the Poco X7 uses a 6.67-inch display with very small bezels. The screen-to-body ratio of this phone is estimated at 88.9 percent, which means that when you look at the phone, you will notice the very small bezels around it. Also, the selfie camera lens is placed in a small notch hole at the top of the front panel, taking up little space. Google Pixel 10 Pro review

Camera Layout

The design and layout of the Poco X7 cameras has completely changed compared to the previous generation. Although the same three wide, ultra-wide, and macro lenses have still been selected for this phone, its layout and design have become really more attractive. The three lenses, along with the flash, are placed inside a square island with rounded edges that has a shiny and glassy look. The coloring around the lenses and the edge of the square island has been done with particular care to multiply the attractiveness of the phone.

Protection Standards

Poco was able to obtain IP68 certification for the X7 phone. Therefore, the Poco X7 is a waterproof phone that can survive up to half an hour in up to 1.5 meters of water. It is also very resistant to the ingress of very fine dust particles and you can use it in workshop environments. The inclusion of a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protector also makes the phone’s display more resistant to impacts and contact with sharp objects.

Poco X7 Battery Review

FeatureSpecification / Performance
Battery CapacityGlobal: 5110mAh / India: 5500mAh
Battery Life (Single Charge)• Web Browsing: ~7 hours
• Movie Watching: ~11 hours
• Gaming: ~5.15 hours
• Standard Usage: ~19.3 hours
Charging Speed45W
Charging Time• 15 min: 35%
• 30 min: 62%
• 0 to 100%: ~65 min
Comparative Assessment• Battery Life: Improved vs. previous generation but unimpressive vs. same-price competitors (e.g., Samsung A55 has ~40% more).
• Charging Speed: Slower than most same-price phones and the previous Poco X6; noted as a negative point.

The global version of the Poco X7 is powered by a 5110mAh battery, while the Indian version has a 5500mAh battery. The battery life has improved over the previous generation, but when compared to phones of the same price, it is not very impressive. For example, the Samsung A55, although it is an older phone, offers about 40% more battery life.
On a single charge, you can browse the web with the Poco X7 for about 7 hours, watch movies with it for 11 hours, play games with it for about 5.15 hours, and use it in standard mode for about 19.3 hours.
The phone supports a 45W charger and can charge the battery to 35% in 15 minutes and 62% in 30 minutes. It also takes about 1 hour and 5 minutes to fully charge. In terms of charging speed, it is slower than almost all phones of the same price and even the Poco X6, and this is a negative point for the Poco X7.

Poco X7 Screen Review

This phone has been launched with a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen. This screen supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision capabilities and displays 68 billion colors. Most importantly, the Poco X7 screen has a 120 Hz refresh rate, which allows you to run and enjoy all heavy games on the phone without delay or lag. This refresh rate is adjustable and you can reduce it to consume less battery.

The screen of this phone has an Always-on display feature and you can always put the clock, calendar, and various elements on the screen. The screen of this phone displays images with a resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels and a density of 446ppi, which is considered high quality.
On the other hand, this phone reaches 560 nits of brightness in manual mode and 1111 nits of brightness in automatic mode, which is a reasonable and good brightness. Of course, it should be noted that the Poco X6’s brightness reaches 1339 nits in automatic mode, which Poco has regressed in this regard. However, the Poco X7’s brightness is standard and you can use it even in direct sunlight.

Now it’s time for the Poco X7’s triple cameras. This phone is manufactured with a 50-megapixel wide camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro on the rear and a 20-megapixel selfie lens on the front panel. In the following, we will review each of the cameras separately.
Main camera
Although Poco has opted for the 64-megapixel lens of the X6 over the 50-megapixel lens of the X7, the positive point is that the Sony IMX882 lens has now been chosen for this phone, which has already passed its test well. This camera captures 12.5-megapixel photos in default mode. The photos cover a good dynamic range in daylight, there is no noise in them, and the color contrast is also at an acceptable level.

If we were to mention a few of the weaknesses of this camera, we can say that the details are not captured very well, the colors are oversaturated and exaggerated, and it seems that the phone’s processor interferes a lot in improving the photos, making the appearance of the photos look polished and too soft.

This camera can provide you with a maximum of 2x sensor zoom, which is really bad quality and has become even worse compared to the previous generation. When you set the photo quality to 50 megapixels, more details appear in the photos and naturally the size of the photos also increases several times.
This camera also has portrait and night photography modes. When you take photos at night, the camera automatically switches to night photography mode and you can take relatively good photos with it. Of course, don’t expect too much from it.
For video recording, the maximum quality you are given is 4K at 30 frames per second, and slow-motion video recording is recorded at 720p and 240 frames per second, which is not high quality.
In general, due to the use of a Sony lens, the quality of the photos you take with the main camera is acceptable and you will probably like it. Also, due to the presence of stabilization, the videos you record with this camera are also very smooth and of high quality.

Ultra-wide camera
The 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the Poco X7 has not changed from the previous generation, and you will see exactly the same lens model on this phone now. The photos from this camera are of average quality in terms of detail, colors are still oversaturated, and color contrast is of average quality.
Macro camera
The 2-megapixel selfie camera is exactly the same as the previous generation and is used for taking pictures of very close or small subjects. Unlike the other two lenses, the photos from the macro camera do not have high color saturation at all, but they are extremely poor in terms of detail and there is a lot of noise in the photos.

Selfie Camera
The 20MP selfie camera is actually an upgraded 5MP output that can capture little detail and the photos you take with it look too soft. The sharpness of the camera seems to be not very precisely adjusted. However, this lens has good color accuracy and covers a wide dynamic range. You can also reach 1080p quality and 60 frames per second for video recording, and there is no 4K quality.
Poco X7 Hardware Review
Poco has used the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chip as the processor of the X7 phone. This processor is not much more powerful than the Poco X6 processor. In some parameters, it can even be said that the X6 processor offers better performance. But overall, the Poco X7 processor is at an acceptable level and you can run heavy applications and games with it and it does not heat up very quickly.
Along with this processor, 8 and 12 GB of RAM and 128 to 512 GB of UFS 2.2 storage are used. It should be noted that you cannot upgrade the memory of this phone and its hardware is average. For example, Wi-Fi 6 has been selected for it and it has Bluetooth version 5.4 and although the USB port is version 2.0, it supports OTG functionality.

Operating system and user interface
This phone was released with Android 14 and the HyperOS 1.04 user interface. The strange thing is that at the same time as this phone, the Poco X7 Pro was released, which has Android 15 and HyperOS 2.0 and it is not clear why Poco released the simple version with Android 14; strange behavior! Anyway, you can upgrade the operating system and user interface after buying this phone. Poco has said that it will provide software and operating system updates for the X7 for up to 4 years.
Speaker
There are speakers placed at the top and bottom of this phone that play music in stereo. According to tests conducted on the volume of these speakers, these speakers can ultimately produce sound at a volume of 91.4 dB, which is considered a good volume. The sound quality is also acceptable, but at high volumes, it is lower quality than the Poco X6 and Samsung A55.

Is the Poco X7 phone worth buying?

. In this price range, the Samsung A55 and A36 phones, the Redmi Note 14 Pro and even the Poco X7 Pro are also available. If the black-yellow color of this phone and its attractive design appeal to you, you can buy this phone and use its design, leather body, relatively good cameras and other features. But really, in this price range and a little more money, there are much better phones like the A55, which is really head and shoulders above in terms of camera, processor and battery. Also, when the Poco X7 Pro is in the same price range, what’s the point?! The Pro version has more features! However, the choice is yours. Simply put, for a few million more, there are better options available like the a55 and the Poco X7 Pro.
