The electric motor in the Sump Pump drives the pump shaft and provides kinetic energy to transport fluids.

The electric motors used in sludge pumps are of two types: single-phase and three-phase. The rotation speed of the electric motors is 900, 1500 or 3000 rpm. Lower-speed pumps are used to pump thicker fluids. Mechanical sealing is used in the Sump Pump to prevent water from entering the motor.
